ABOUT OUR CAUSE
The AJ Donohue Foundation carries on the goals and dreams of our namesake, AJ Donohue. AJ was diagnosed with cancer as a teenager in 2005. While a patient at Wolfson Children's Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida, AJ was inspired to raise money for the hospital - and #TeamAJ was born. AJ sold $3 stickers at school, church, and football games in hopes to raise enough money to buy new recliners for every room in the hospital.
In September 2006, #TeamAJ surpassed $50,000 in sticker sales - enough to fulfill his goal. The next day, AJ passed away.
Since his passing, #TeamAJ has organized and become the AJ Donohue Foundation, Inc. The Foundation funds pediatric oncology scholarships at Wolfson Children's Hospital, and college scholarships for Glynn County high school students who attend the nursing program at the College of Coastal Georgia in Brunswick, GA. The Foundation also continues to support Wolfson Children's Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. In recent years, the Foundation has focused on helping grow the Wolfson Children's Clinic at the Southeast Georgia Regional Hospital in Brunswick, where the Foundation has purchased necessary equipment, built a toy-and-game room, and funded a state-of-the-art sensory space.
With your help, we will further expand the Foundation and spread AJ's message of courage and determination for years to come.
